The South Carolina Fertilizer and Agrichemicals Association and the South Carolina Seedsmen’s Association will hold their joint convention at the Marriott Grande Dunes Resort, Myrtle Beach, S.C., on July 24-27, 2008.

The convention will begin with a Clemson University Research Roundtable. Jim Byrum, the president of the Michigan Agribusiness Association, will present “The Perfect Storm” discussing the range of diverse factors that have formed a perfect storm that is causing food prices to spike to sky-high levels and the irreversible nature of those factors — from growing global demand for protein to high prices for fertilizer and fuel.

In addition, the program will include “Ethanol’s Future — Food vs Fuel” with Matt Sederstrom, vice-president marketing and project development, Fagen Incorporated, Granite Falls, Minn.

Deadline for advanced convention registration is Thursday, July 15, 2008. A late fee will be required after that date. Advance registrants will receive a confirmation letter the week before the convention, and will be able to pick up their registration packets on Friday, July 25 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

On-site registration will be held from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 at the hotel.

The Crop Protection Association of North Carolina (CPANC) will also hold their Summer Convention and CCA Training Thursday, July 24 and Friday, July 25 at the Marriott.
