Georgia eyes coldest winter ever

What is in this article?:

Despite heavier-than-normal snowfall, precipitation amounts were below normal, increasing drought conditions across Georgia.

Cold temperatures and heavy snow crippled north Georgia in January. Despite heavier-than-normal snowfall, precipitation amounts were below normal, increasing drought conditions across the state.

Georgia’s temperature was significantly below normal last month. In Atlanta, the monthly average temperature was 40.2 degrees F (2.5 degrees below normal), in Athens 39.7 degrees (2.5 degrees below normal), Columbus 43.6 degrees (3.2 degrees below normal), Macon 42 degrees (3.5 degrees below normal), Savannah 45.1 degrees (4.1 degrees below normal), Brunswick 49.1 degrees (2.6 degrees below normal), Alma 44.9 degrees (6.8 degrees below normal), Valdosta 47.3 degrees (2.6 degrees below normal) and Augusta 41.7 degrees (3.1 degrees below normal).

If colder-than-normal temperatures continue into February, this winter could possibly set records for the coldest winter ever in some parts of Georgia. Record low temperatures were set at Macon, Savannah and Alma Jan. 14. Macon reported 16 degrees, breaking the old record of 19 degrees set that date in 1970. Savannah and Alma reported 18 degrees, surpassing the old records of 20 degrees set at both locations in 1964.

The cold is due to Global Warming as warm weather is due to Global Warming. These hot and cold trends have never happened in history. Please buy Al Gores Carbon Credits at your local X-Mart and the weather will return to normal hot and cold periods.

Grrrrr....Where are all those flourocarbons when we need them? Where is all that carbon dioxide? Sure could use some right now so that we can have some of that "global warming"!

Proof positive that man=made global warming is happening now. All hail Al Gore.

How can that be? Al Gore said the excessive snowfall was due to warmer than usual air holding more water. This story says not only is the air much colder than normal, it's also dryer.
Somebody is lying and has an agenda! ;-)

I remember the winters of 61 and 73 and it seems tat they were as cold or colder. I also remember the winters of 82 and 83. Seems we had -8 temps in Atlanta then.

Haven't seen those temps this winter.

Dr. Elsasser is LAUGHING at the "climate wonks".

In his 1942, "On the Infra Red Heat Balance of the Atmosphere" he discounted CO2 as a net ZERO influence as it UPFLUXED as much as it DOWNFLUXED.

Things have not changed, no matter how fancy the computer program.

That impossible. Al Gore assured us that warmer temperatures making the air carry more water is the cause of record snow falls. Now we're told that the air is actually at record lows? And dryer than normal? Someone must be lying to support their agenda ;-)

If it's hot....it's global warming. If it's cold.....it's global warming. If it's raining....it's global warming. If it's snowing......yes, it's still global warming. If a dog poops in my yard.....it probably has something to do with global warming. If Al Gore dumps his wife, it's because of the wealth he's accumulated pontificating about the global warming hoax.

This is an interesting article!! I can't imagine Savannah Georgia that cold because it was a breathtaking city when I visited there in the summertime :) However, 20 degrees sounds good to me!! It was -4 degrees outside when I woke today @ 8!!lol

Aw c'mon in1952 when I was bivouaced at Ft. Gordon, it was 15 degrees. These temps. are cyclical. Climate change is natural. There is no anthropogenic climate change. Put your concience at ease, put on another blanket and sleep well.

EVER!! Really?? Come on, why do we have to sensationalize everything. The National Weather Service is only 140 years old. And I realize weather data had been collected before then. But real comparable empirical data. So maybe the "coldest on record" or something like that. But Ever??

I think the newest term is "Global Weirding Weather". I read that at Al Gore's last update to this current weather trend. And Everything happening in the extreme or normal range can now be included. Even the facts that volcanoes put more polution into the air, on the land, and under the sea than man has in 25 thousand years must be man's fault,,, somehow? Oh, let us all go and jump into a volcano to satisfy the anger of the current volcano god! Too many years have passed since we last did this kind of sacrificing, we have been wasting our time down on our knees with our hands clasped before us, looking toward the sky... or was it better to face the East?

Maybe Big Al's carbon foot print did it all. Driving in his SUV's and all that. Of couse, he can afford to leave a big ole carbon print because of all the people that pay to read his junky books. What an intelligent bunch we are to listen to him.
