Agricultural conservation programs make up a significant portion of mandatory farm program spending.
The National Corn Growers Association has developed a survey to collect information on how farmers utilize these farm bill programs.
In the current budget environment, tough decisions will need to be made about how to structure these programs to provide optimum environmental and economic benefit.
The purpose of this survey is to gather information that will be used in discussions with lawmakers about which conservation programs farmers find most useful and what adjustments might be beneficial.
Five conservation programs will expire after FY 2012 including the Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP) and Grasslands Reserve Program (GRP). Numerous other programs including the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP), Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) and Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) are facing the possibility of major budget reductions.
