One-year farm bill extension might be viable option

Some farm organizations have been saying a one-year extension of the 2008 farm bill would be difficult to achieve if the White House and House leaders cannot reach agreement on a budget deal. But the USA Rice Federation’s Reece Langley says an extension might be the better option for growers and lenders who will begin a new crop season within a matter of weeks. Langley discussed the ‘fiscal cliff’ dilemma during an “Update on the 2012 Farm Bill Development at the USA Rice Outlook Conference in San Diego.
