North Carolina hotline, website to help tornado victims

Information service for farmers

North Carolina farmers now have a hotline and website to help them recover from damage inflicted by recent tornadoes.

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has activated a hotline to provide farmers with information about assistance programs, listen to their concerns, and answer questions.

Farmers who suffered damage in the April 16 tornadoes can call toll free, 1-866-506-6222. Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The department also has set up a website, www.ncagr.gov/agtap, to act as a clearinghouse for information about storm recovery and assistance.
