More About:

The NCC’s annual survey of 2013 planting intentions has been mailed to upland and extra-long staple (ELS) cotton producers across the Cotton Belt.

The survey, conducted each year to aid with industry planning and policy deliberations, provides the basis for the economic outlook presented to delegates during the NCC Annual Meeting in Memphis, Tenn.

Survey results will be presented during the Joint Meeting of Program Committees on Saturday morning, Feb. 9.

To enhance the survey’s accuracy, producers are encouraged to respond by the Jan. 16 deadline.

The current survey has been distributed through a combination of regular mail and e-mail with the intent of reaching all cotton farms across the Belt.

Growers who do not receive a survey may contact the NCC via email at econsurvey@cotton.org for survey instructions.

California cotton acreage will continue to plummet...as PIMA prices @ $1.20/lb...and water costs @ $150+/AF (even on our 100% drip irrigated cotton...using 26" of water") don't make sense @ direct growing costs now exceed $1,300 per acre....before indirects, including land rents! So, PIMA will continue to be a rotation crop...as is wheat...only in the mix due to its ability to use well water during July and August, when other crops are completed. Get the price back to $1.50/lb and yield expectation of 1,600+ lbs will start to make sense once again.

Acala is a total "no".......as even 1,600 lb @ $.90 doesn't pay the rent. SORRY!
