In October of 1960, the U.S. imposed a commercial, economic and financial embargo on Cuba. Despite the existence of the embargo, the U.S. is the fifth largest exporter to Cuba. However, that country must pay cash for U.S. imports as credit is not allowed. Today, efforts to further ease restrictions on trade with Cuba are being made in Congress.
