July arrives tomorrow, it’s hot and it’s time for the Sunbelt Expo Field Day.
This year’s field day is scheduled to kick off at 8:30 a.m. on July 8, with a full schedule of activities. The Expo folks are inviting you to stop by and see more than 140 varieties of cotton, peanuts, corn, soybeans and grain sorghum. You will also have the opportunity to see the latest pesticide and irrigation technology and the University of Georgia’s Cotton and Peanut Team’s applied research plots.
Water management has become a big issue among Southeast growers the past few years and the 2010 field day will feature a Reinke Manufacturing Inc., demonstration of OnTrac, a comprehensive monitor and control system for irrigation rigs. OnTrac fits all brands of center pivot or lateral move systems and gives an alert when something goes wrong.
Even though there’s a lot to see and do, the field day still provides visitors an opportunity to visit one-on-one with industry representatives and university researchers.
The Sunbelt Expo Field Day is held at the 600 acre Darrell Williams Research Farm at the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition location near Moultrie, Ga.
And it’s not too early to mark your calendar for the Sunbelt Agricultural Exposition which will be held this year on Oct. 19-21.
These two events offer up a lot of information that can be taken back to the farm and put to good use.
