Mark your calendar for Thursday, Feb. 2. Not because it’s Groundhog’s Day, but because that’s the date of the annual Tennessee Grain and Soybean Producers Conference held at the Dyer County Fairgrounds in Dyersburg.

Whether spring is just around the corner or we have six more weeks of winter in store, farmers can prepare for the 2012 crop year by attending the conference’s informative breakout sessions or touring the extensive industry trade show.

Registration for Grain Conference begins at 7:45 a.m. and will include coffee and donuts.

The trade show and sponsor booth visitation will take place from 8:00 a.m. — 9:00 a.m. and will be immediately followed by the morning breakout sessions, led by University of Tennessee Extension specialists.

This year’s sessions will focus on topics such as resistant weed management, new planter technologies, herbicide tank mixes, plus more.

Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the new UT Institute of Agriculture Chancellor, Larry Arrington.   Arrington will speak briefly before lunch.
