Topics ranging from the second-generation of biotechnology in cotton to petiole analysis from how farmers can benefit by using conservation incentives in the new farm bill to drip irrigation will be covered at the conference.

The conference begins at 9 a.m. Breakfast, sponsored by Bayer CropScience and FiberMax Seeds, begins at 8 a.m., along with and pre-registration. The conference will end around 3:30 p.m.
The conference has been approved for four hours Certified Crop Advisor CEUS and five hours pesticide credits with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture. Stoneville Pedigreed Seed Company is sponsoring the morning break and John Deere is sponsoring the lunch.
On the topic of biotechnology, a North Carolina State University entomologist will discuss how farmers can best benefit from the second wave of technology. Representatives from Monsanto, Bayer CropScience, Syngenta and Dow AgroSciences have been invited to speak about the benefits of the new offerings in the field.
On the conservation front, Mary Combs, head of the North Carolina Natural Resources Conservation Service, will discuss the many opportunities farmers have under the new farm bill.
Extension entomologists from South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia will give an insect update. Extension cotton specialists from North Carolina and South Carolina will discuss the previous crop year and give variety updates.
