North Carolina Wheat Field Day set May 5

The Beaufort County, N.C., Wheat Field Day will be held May 5 on the Mickey Elks Farm off Mills Road in Chocowinity, N.C.

The field day begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

Among the five stops at the field day: Beaufort County Extension Agent Gaylon Ambrose will discuss wheat variety selection; North Carolina State University Extension Crop Scientist Ron Heiniger will discuss intensive management for wheat; North Carolina State University Small Grains Breeder Paul Murphy will discuss wheat variety development; and Ambrose will discuss nitrogen and nitrogen fertilizer additives, and control of foliar diseases with fungicides.
