Clemson University’s T. Ed Garrison Livestock Arena will be host for the South Carolina Farm and Ranch Expo Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

The event offers pet owners, home owners and landscapers, as well as farmers, ranchers and the general public an opportunity to gather information and learn about new equipment, products and techniques.

Vendors from around the Southeast will be available to answer questions and provide demonstrations of their products and equipment. Live entertainment is scheduled for each afternoon.

The event will be held from noon until 6 p.m. on Nov. 30, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Dec. 1 and on Dec. 2, from 1 until 5 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person. Children 12 years and younger will be admitted free.

Seminars are scheduled for Dec. 1 starting at 9 a.m. The beef seminars will focus on chute side management and herd health.

Chute and herd health programs will start on the hour.

Concurrent horse seminars will include round-pen training and other best management practices taught by horse trainer Mike McKenzie.

Garrison Arena is a first class indoor facility with many amenities including a variety of food and drink.

Fund raisers will benefit the National Cattlemen’s Foundation and American Quarter Horse Association Therapeutic Riding Program.

“The therapeutic riding program is a program to helps kids with physical and mental challenges,” said RD Morrison, coordinator of the event.

Morrison also wants to highlight the agricultural industry in the state.

“Agriculture is the second largest industry — second to tourism,” he said.

Clemson Extension and the Pickens County Cattlemen’s Association will host the event.

For more information, contact the Clemson Extension office in Pickens at 864-878-1304, ext. 114 or e-mail Morrison at rdm95573@bellsouth.net.
