You name it, this year's U.S. cotton crop went through it — cold spring, wet weather, late planting, replanting, drought and hot temperatures. Yet many of today's cotton varieties took the hit and still managed to produce yields that exceeded expectations.

Here's a look at what seed companies are offering producers across the Cotton Belt for the 2007 season. Descriptions are provided by seed companies.

Texas-based American Cotton Breeders, Inc., or Americot, offers these new products for 2007.

1664 B2RF has excellent yield potential and a great fiber package. 1664 B2RF is early-medium maturing, with 36-38 staple, 3.6-4.4 micronaire and 27-29 strength.

2220 RF offers excellent yield potential and is well-suited for high input acres, drip and pivot irrigation. Push this product to the max. Medium maturing with 36-37 staple, 3.6-4.6 micronaire and 27-30 strength.

1532 B2RF offers an excellent fiber package and yield potential. Well-suited for high input acres, drip and pivot irrigation. Medium maturing with 36-38 staple, 3.6-4.5 micronaire and 26-29 strength.

1622 B2RF has extra long staple making it a good choice for dryland and light water circles. Offering good yield potential and excellent grades, even on tough cotton acres, this medium maturing cotton has 36-39 staple, 3.7-4.5 micronaire and 27-30 strength.

1504 B2RF is well-suited for areas north of Plainview, Texas and in Kansas. It is also an excellent replant cotton on southern High Plains. 1504 B2RF is early maturing, and has 34-36 staple, 3.5-4.5 micronaire and 26-29 strength.

1521 B2RF is well-suited for areas north of Plainview, Texas, as well as Kansas. Early-maturing cotton good for replanting in southern High Plains counties of Texas. Staple, 36-37, 3.6-4.5 micronaire and 27-30 strength.

Beltwide Cotton Genetics, LLC will offer two new multiple stacked BollgardII/Roundup Ready Flex products in 2007. Limited quantities of BW-3220B2F and BW-3552B2F will be available.

BW-3220B2F is a medium maturing, semi-smooth leaf product with 36-38 staple, 3.9-4.5 micronaire and 32-34 strength.

BW-3552B2F is an early-medium maturing, semi-smooth leaf product with 36-38 staple, 3.7-4.2 micronaire and 30-32 strength.

These products are in their second year of distribution.

BW-3255B2F is an early, smooth leaf product with 1.15 staple, 4.6 micronaire, and 26 strength.

BW-4630B2F is a medium, smooth leaf product, with 1.20 staple, 4.4 micronaire and 29.5 strength.

BW-6896B2F is a medium maturing, semi-smooth leaf product with 1.16 staple, 3.8 micronaire and 31.9 strength.

BW-8391B2F is a full maturing, smooth leaf product with an average 1.23 staple, 4.1 micronaire and 29 strength.

BW-9775B2F is a full maturing, smooth leaf product with 1.23 staple, 4.1 micronaire and 29 strength.

Delta and Pine Land Company plans to launch four Bollgard II/Roundup Ready Flex varieties, one Pima and one Bollgard/Roundup Ready variety bred for performance in the Southeast.

DP 143 B2RF shows great potential for high yields and premium fiber quality. Contains Bollgard II and Roundup Ready Flex. Shown ability to perform well in a wide array of growing environments and soil types.

DP 164 B2RF is a true mid- to full-season variety bred and developed in D&PL research program. Demonstrated good stress tolerance, especially heat stress in Texas in 2005. Smooth leaf variety has performed well in testing on fields with clay or similar low-production-type soils in Mid-South and Southeast regions.

DP 117 B2RF is an early-season Bollgard II/Roundup Ready Flex variety developed in the D&PL breeding program. Demonstrated good potential for high yields and premium fiber quality in high-production environments and soils. Performed well, delivering high yields, on irrigated fields throughout the Southeast, Mid-South and Texas, including the High Plains.

PM 2140 B2RF was developed in the D&PL breeding and research program in Haskell, Texas. A very early BollgardII/Roundup Ready Flex variety for the northern High Plains, including Oklahoma and Kansas. Demonstrated the potential for both high yield and premium fiber quality in 2005 testing. Can be a good option for replanting in the Plainview-south portion of the High Plains. One of the earliest maturing B2RF products in D&PL's lineup.

DP 515 BG/RR was bred to perform in the Southeast. A mid- to full-maturity variety with semi-smooth leaves and a penchant for high yields, according to 2005 testing in Georgia and South Carolina. In limited testing, variety has shown high-end yield potential comparable to DP 555 BG/RR and a slightly earlier maturity.

DP 353 Pima is the latest offering from D&PL for the California Pima market. This variety is an early- to mid-maturity that has tested similar to DP 340 Pima for yield and fiber quality potential. Has been more responsive to management inputs such as fertilizer and growth management products when compared to the more indeterminate Pima cotton varieties.

DG 2490 B2RF is a new Bollgard II Roundup Ready Flex variety, also tested under experimental number DG 06064 B2RF. It has excellent seedling vigor, a medium plant height, medium maturity, and has shown broad adaptability with excellent yield potential and fiber quality characteristics in the Southeast and Delta growing areas.

DG 2383 RF is a new Roundup Ready Flex only variety shown to have good seedling vigor, medium plant height, medium maturity, and good yield potential across many soil types.

UAP Distribution will also market the following Dyna-Gro Bollgard II Roundup Ready Flex cotton varieties — DG 2100 B2RF, DG 2215 B2RF, DG 2242 B2RF, DG 2490 B2RF, DG 2520 B2RF; a Roundup Ready Flex only variety — DG 2383 RF; an acala Bollgard Roundup Ready variety — DG OA265 BR; and a conventional variety — DG N2429.

FiberMax is releasing two LibertyLink varieties, three Liberty Link/Bollgard II varieties, two Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex varieties, and three Roundup Ready Flex varieties.

FM 1600LL is an early to mid-season variety with LibertyLink technology. Well-adapted to all areas of the Mid-South, Mid-Atlantic and suitable for early season production in the Southeast. Plants are growthy with a medium stature. Although early- to medium-maturity, it also displays indeterminate growth habits giving consistent fruiting until cutout. Bolls are medium size with excellent fiber quality.

FM 1800LL is a mid- to full-season variety with LibertyLink technology. Well-adapted to all areas east of Texas, especially the Southeast growing regions and the full season production regions of the Mid-Atlantic and the Mid-South. Plants are growthy with medium stature, and bolls are medium in size with excellent fiber quality.

FM 988LLB2 is a medium-maturing LibertyLink/Bollgard II variety well-adapted to the Southern Rolling Plains and the Southeast. Plants are very compact with short to medium stature. Boll retention is high on the first fruiting positions for a consistent fruiting pattern. Fiber quality is good.

FM 965LLB2 is a mid- to full-season LibertyLink/Bollgard II variety suitable for most well-drained soils across the Cotton Belt. It has moderate early season growth that can respond to lower rates of plant growth regulator. Fiber quality is very good.

FM 955LLB2 is an early-maturing LibertyLink Bollgard II variety that has demonstrated excellent adaptation to the mid-Atlantic states, throughout the Mid-South and Texas. It is an easy-to-manage variety with short, compact plants. Fiber quality is very good.

FM 9068F is an early-maturing Roundup Ready Flex variety with a wide range of adaptability throughout the Mid-South and Southeast with good productivity across soil types. It is an easy-to-manage variety requiring low rates of plant growth regulator to no plant growth regulator application. Fiber quality is very good.

FM 9060F is an early-maturing Roundup Ready Flex variety particularly suited to the central and northern regions of the Mid-South as well as the mid-Atlantic states. Plants are compact and should work well in narrow row configurations and conventional row patterns. Fiber quality is very good, even under variable conditions.

FM 9063B2F is an early-maturing Bollgard II/Roundup Ready Flex variety with a compact plant type that is easy to manage. It has a wide range of adaptability throughout Texas, the Mid-South and the Eastern Seaboard. Fiber quality is excellent.

FM 1880B2F is a full-season Bollgard II/Roundup Ready Flex variety. It grows to a medium to large plant that requires moderate growth regulator treatments to set an excellent crop. It is adapted to areas east of Texas particularly to the Southeast and mid-Atlantic states. Bolls are medium in size with excellent fiber quality.

PHY 370 WR is an early-maturity WideStrike/Roundup Ready stacked variety with good vigor, broad adaptation and high yield potential.

PHY 470 WR is a WideStrike/Roundup Ready stacked variety with early to mid-maturity and broad adaptation. Most similar to PSC 355, with improved micronaire and grade.

PHY 480 WR is a WideStrike/Roundup Ready stacked variety with early- to mid-maturity and broad adaptation. Similar to PHY 470 WR with improved lint yield, staple and strength.

PHY 485 WR is a WideStrike/Roundup Ready Flex stacked variety with early- to mid-maturity and broad adaptation. Very good to excellent fiber quality and grades.

PHY 125 RF is a Roundup Ready Flex stripper variety with excellent yield potential for the High Plains. Good fiber quality and grades.

PHY 745 WRF has tremendous yield potential. WideStrike/Roundup Ready Flex. Not being tested as an approved acala.

PHY 725 RF — Roundup Ready Flex acala variety. Most similar to PHY 72 has excellent staple length and high yield potential with adaptation across San Joaquin Valley.

ST 6565B2RF is a new full-season Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex, picker product. It has premium fiber quality, offers exceptional yield potential and is a smooth leaf type. An excellent choice for growers in the lower-Mid-South and Southeast who prefer a full season product. The vigorous growth of this product should be managed with timely mepiquat chloride applications. The final plant population should be 2-3 plants per foot, particularly under dryland conditions.

ST 4427B2RF combines great yield potential, broad adaptation and the Bollgard II with Roundup Ready Flex technologies. Early maturity. Although the plant is not extremely tall, height should be monitored and controlled with mepiquat chloride-type products.

ST 5327B2RF is a new medium-maturing product with Bollgard II and Roundup Ready Flex technologies. Broadly adapted and has demonstrated high yield potential and has a very good fiber package. Does not tend to have extremely aggressive growth, however, height should be monitored and appropriately controlled with a mepiquat chloride-type product. This medium-maturing product has performed well across the entire Cotton Belt.

ST 5283RF is a new medium-maturing Roundup Ready Flex product that has demonstrated the ability for high yield potential across a broad area. This semi-smooth leaf variety also has a very good fiber package. This mid-maturing product has performed well in virtually all areas of the Cotton Belt. The product does not tend to have extremely aggressive growth, however, height should be monitored and controlled with a mepiquat chloride-type product.

NG 1572RF is a new, very early maturing Roundup Ready Flex product with great yield potential, excellent storm tolerance and very good fiber quality. Better suited to northern production areas of the High Plains, northern Oklahoma and Kansas or in any situation where the growing season is limited.

These products from Croplan Genetics are in their second year of distribution and contain updated information on fiber quality.

CG 3020B2RF is a very early-maturity, smooth-leaf picker variety with excellent yield potential and premium fiber quality to better help U.S. cotton growers market their fiber in base international and high-end domestic markets. This variety will come stacked with Bollgard II and Roundup Ready Flex. Fiber quality measurements: micronaire 4.2; staple 36.8; strength 27.4.

CG 3520B2RF is an early-maturity, semi-smooth-leaf picker variety with excellent yield potential and premium fiber quality. This variety will come stacked with Bollgard II and Roundup Ready Flex. Fiber quality measurements: micronaire 4.2; staple 37.8; strength 27.4.

CG 4020B2RF is an early- to mid-maturity, smooth-leaf picker variety with excellent yield potential. This variety will come stacked with Bollgard II and Roundup Ready Flex. Fiber quality measurements: micronaire 4.2, staple 38.1, strength 28.7.
