Fruit, vegetable conference Jan. 9-11

Commercial growers, vendors and suppliers are invited to participate in the Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference in Savannah, Ga., on Jan. 9-11. This is the largest educational conference and trade show held in the Southeastern United States.
Educational sessions and trade show activities will be held at the Savannah International Trade Convention Center.
Beginning on Friday, Jan. 9, are special production and marketing sessions targeted for each of the sponsoring commodity organizations. During the two-day program, more than 60 hours of educational sessions with nationally renowned speakers will offer pest management updates, crop production presentations, seed and variety trial results, financial and labor management tips and marketing techniques.
In addition, agricultural scientists will present results of their studies in posters for grower review. Other special interest workshops include half-day and full-day programs on the Food Safety GAPP, organic production and roadside markets. The educational program is designed to help growers develop and implement good operating practices to manage their production, financial and marketing risks.
The 2004 Trade Show, with more than 160 booths, will feature an exciting assembly of vendors and suppliers to the fruit and vegetable industry. The trade show provides an opportunity for growers to compare products, talk with industry representatives, observe demonstrations, and learn about the latest in fresh produce technology. The trade show is open on Friday from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
