Putnam sworn in as Florida ag commissioner

At a ceremony held at Florida's Old Capitol, Adam Putnam was sworn in as Florida's eleventh Commissioner of Agriculture. 

The ceremony also featured the swearing in of Rick Scott as Governor, Jennifer Carroll as Lieutenant Governor, Pam Bondi as Attorney General and Jeff Atwater as Chief Financial Officer.

"Today begins a new chapter in our state, and I am excited to hit the ground running as Commissioner of Agriculture," Putnam said. "Agriculture remains a vital part of our state's economy and will remain an important part of its future, and I look forward to using technology and innovation to put Florida at the forefront of every opportunity."

To kick off Putnam's tenure, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services website and employee e-mails have been changed to http://www.FreshFromFlorida.com and firstname.lastname@FreshFromFlorida.com.

"One of the Department's goals to is to promote and market fresh Florida products," Putnam said. "Using 'Fresh From Florida' not only helps us accomplish this mission, but will also help the average web surfer with name recognition and navigability."
