Nutrition programs still an issue in farm bill's future

The House and Senate Agriculture Committees are scheduled to begin marking up the 2013 version of the farm bill in separate sessions next week. But the debate over spending cuts to the farm bill’s nutrition programs is expected to take center stage when it reaches the House. Rep. Jack Kingston, chairman of the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies, discussed those programs in remarks to members of the Southern Crop Production Association. The SCPA held its annual visit to Capitol Hill in Washington Thursday.
