Glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth or pigweed is fast becoming a major problem for row crop producers. Weed scientists have been urging growers to apply residual herbicides. But most agree residual herbicides are not enough to fight the sheer numbers of resistant weeds present in many southern fields. In recent months, Monsanto has been working with farmers to develop a new hooded sprayer that could help control in-season escapes. Steve Claussen, the inventor of the original hooded sprayer, talked about the new design in this video made at the Sunbelt Expo.
