Edisto Field Day Sept. 5

The Edisto Research and Education Center will welcome visitors to the Fall Field Day this year on Sept. 5 at the facility located on Highway 78, three miles west of Blackville, S.C.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. and running until 3:00 p.m., Field Day visitors will have an opportunity to explore the following commodities and topics:

  • Cotton — Aphid thresholds, plant bug and stink bug management, new insecticides, site specific herbicide application and variable rate nematicide application.

  • Peanuts — New variety demonstrations, comparison of fungicide programs, experimental row spacings, rotation, irrigation, tillage effects on insect management and use of Irrigator Pro on peanuts.

  • Soybeans — Roundup Ready variety development.

There will also be discussion of second crop vegetable production on watermelon beds and a beef cattle research update.
