Cecil Yancy named associate editor at Farm Press

Cecil Yancy has been named associate editor of Southeast Farm Press, working out of the publication's Raleigh, N.C. offices.

“We're extremely pleased to have Cecil as a member of our staff,” said Hembree Brandon, editorial director. “His wide-ranging experience as an agricultural journalist over the past decade will add even more depth to Southeast Farm Press' outstanding coverage of topics and issues of interest to our readers.”

Yancy, who received a bachelor's degree in journalism at Auburn University, held editorial positions with the Cullman, Ala. Times and Dothan, Ala. Eagle, both daily newspapers; was editor for the Georgia Farm Bureau; and from 1994 until January, 2001 was editor at large for Specialized Agricultural Publications, with primary responsibility as editor of The Peanut Farmer magazine.

He has received the Media Award of the Georgia Peanut Commission; the American Farm Bureau Federation Best Leader Newsletter Award; and a photography award from the Alabama Press Association. He is a member of the American Peanut Research and Education Society's Public Relations Committee.

His first column, introducing himself, appears on Page 4 of this issue.

Farm Press publishes four regional editions — Southeast Farm Press, Delta Farm Press, Southwest Farm Press, and Western Farm Press — providing timely, reliable information about production agriculture in the Sunbelt states.

It also publishes Southeast Agricultural Digest, Delta Agricultural Digest, and a number of special interest publications. The Farm Presses can also be found on the Internet at www.agriclick.com.
